KING Furniture has launched the Andrea sofa at the State of Design Festival in Melbourne. Designed by Charles Wilson, the sofa marks the company’s first ever external collaboration with an Australian designer.
Andrea has been designed to be completely modular with arm and back sections slotting into the frame using a unique locking mechanism. Several table designs have been created that fit into the sofa to provide added functionality.
The design process for Andrea began about two years ago when David King, managing director, invited Wilson to study the existing King Furniture range and enhance the collection with a new design. A designer for over 16 years, Charles has won a suite of industry awards including the Home Beautiful Product of the year Award in 2007 and the Australian Design Award in 2006.
