DUTCH FURNITURE company Linteloo's Commercial Director Pascal Zegers recently touched down in New Zealand to visit ECC – the company's New Zealand stockist. An enigmatic and excited Zegers took me through the Linteloo range which now has a dedicated display area at ECC.
The stand out Linteloo piece from the Milan Furniture Fair this year was Jan's New Sofa designed by Paola Navone. The high-backed sofa which embraces a 'shabby chic' aesthetic with loose linen covers over the base, and layers of feather-filled cushions instead of taut upholstery has also taken pride of place in the ECC showroom. The system is modular and so can be customised to a multitude of arrangements to fit all types of situations. The gigantic long couches at ECC, covered in the acid green and purple covers that defined the colour trends from Milan, does make a dramatic statement.
Linteloo's company mantra is The Feel Good Factor – and feel good is what this couch does best. Sitting back into the next of pillows, it takes some effort just to think about a good reason to bother getting up again. The soft and natural linen has a welcome tactile feel, and as Zegers enthused, the loose cover instead of upholstery allows you to have two or more different covers and change the look of the couch to suit the change in season, or your change in mood.
The Linteloo range also includes a solid collection of beautifully crafted chairs, sofas, and tables in leather and timber, which offer more sedate, but no less design-led options.
